Tarn Hows is at once the most tranquil of settings, and one of the most popular destinations. Best enjoyed in peace early in the morning, as here, when the backcloth of Coniston Old Man and Brim Fell are lit by the easterly sun.

At the centre of the verdant valley, Little Langdale Tarn lies like a jewel in a setting formed by the graceful curve of Wet Side Edge, rising to the fearsome cliffs of Little Carrs and Great Carrs.
